Your image files
The app reads FITS image files from folders you explicitly open. It never modifies, copies, or transmits your files; the only change it makes on disk is moving frames you reject into a REJECTED subfolder, and back if you undo. The Mac App Store version is sandboxed by macOS and can only reach the folders you choose. The version downloaded from astrophoto-app.com is not sandboxed, so that its command-line mode can read folder paths you type, but it likewise only reads the folders you open.
Your preferences
Settings such as key bindings, display options, and window layout are stored locally in your Mac's standard user preferences (macOS UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device.
Security-scoped bookmarks
To remember which folders you have opened across sessions, the app stores a macOS security-scoped bookmark locally on your device. This bookmark contains only the file-system location of your chosen folder — nothing else.
The Mac App Store version uses no third-party SDKs, frameworks, or services. It relies exclusively on Apple's own frameworks (SwiftUI, Metal, Accelerate, Foundation).
The version downloaded from astrophoto-app.com also includes Sparkle, an open-source update framework. Once a day it downloads the list of available versions from astrophoto-app.com; updates themselves are downloaded from GitHub. Like any web request, these requests reveal your IP address to the servers involved. The request identifies only the app and its version. No personal data, system information, or information about your images is sent.
Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. FITS Blaster does not see or store your payment information. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles purchase data.
The app does not collect any data from any user, including children.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date. As the app collects no data, material changes are unlikely.
